Lately this has been happening really frequently. At random times usually when I stand up and usually at night, I start to feel really dizzy and it feels like my brain is floating (if that makes any sense) and all my movements feel weird. the lights get really bright and sometimes everything takes on a red tint. my stomach feels like im going to throw up but i never do. also i can feel my heart beat on the sides of my head near my temples its like pounding. these usually last for 5 minutes max and then they go away. does anyone know what this is?
You need to go and have your blood pressure checked.
Standing with your BP dropping is called postural hypotension. So your BP drops, leaving less blood in the brain and feeling of fainting.
So please see your Doctor or at the very least a chemist to check your BP before seeing the Doctor.
BUT plebright lights and dizzinessase don't leave it too long.
It sounds like a cerebral/spinal fluid impedement issue and you're experiencing a loss of equalibrium. A visit to your physician and an MRI or CAT scan can diagnose this if that's in fact what's going on.
You might try an over-the-counter medication for motion sickness, such as compazine that will help with the dizziness and nausea, but it may make you drowsy, so take care if and when you drive.
Based upon your symptoms, it sounds neurological in nature and my recommendation would be to contact your primary care physican for a physical and full blood work-up.
I think it sounds like either a tension or migraine head ache. Are you drinking enough water because if your not some of these symptoms can occur from dehydration. If nothing goes away after a couple of days you might need a doctors help sometimes itbright lights and dizziness could be something to do with your inner body instead of what your putting into it. Also herbal tea helps with head aches if your a stay at home healer like me! Hope this helps!
It could be several things that need a physician to sort out, but the first thing you should do is make sure you're eating properly ... and enough. A diet really high, or low, in sugar and carbohydrates, can cause lightheadedness upon standing and several of the other symptoms.
However, if your diet and activity are reasonably normal, you should see a doc to get your blood pressure and a few other basics checked.
If you're a teenager, my guess is that it's an eating or diet problem, and not a real problem at all.
You definitely need to go to a doctor. It could be a simple migraine or something more serious, like a heart defect.
